FLL Becomes World Languages & Cultures

New department name reflects changing reality.

As of the fall semester of 2017, the former Department of Foreign Languages & Literatures has changed its name to the Department of World Languages & Cultures. This name change was voted on by the members of the department last year as a means of better expressing the breadth of the course offerings and programs of the department. "This reflects the changing nature of our programs, which include the Cultural Entrepreneurship program, as well as developments in our increasingly interdisciplinary academic fields.  Our mission, as always, remains firmly committed to educating globally competent citizens," says Dr. Kristen Hylenski, who as department head oversaw the discussion of the name change. Dr. Maureen Tobin Stanley (pictured above) now takes the helm as the head of the Department of World Languages & Cultures.
