Jane Maddy Book Award
Jane Maddy was one of the founding members of Women's Studies at UMD and taught Psychology courses that were part of the Women's Studies curriculum. Jane served on the Women's Studies Advisory Board during all of her years at UMD, and after she retired, served as the Chair of that group for many years. She was very dedicated to Women's Studies and feminist scholarship and causes, and we are honored to offer scholarships to our students in her honor.
This endowed fund allows us to offer two scholarships annually (ranging from $500-$1000) to Women's, Gender & Sexuality Studies majors who have demonstrated their commitment to the mission of WGSS through their scholarship and activism. As we continue to grow this fund, we will be able to offer scholarships to even more of our students.
The Women's Studies Legacy Award
This Scholarship was established in 2016 by an anonymous donor from the UMD campus community. The field of Women's Studies has made a lasting impact on the donor's life and he/she would like to assist a student in achieving their own successes. This scholarship can be awarded to one WGSS major each year.
