In April 2023, the Towards Recognition and University-Tribal Healing (TRUTH) Project published a report putting forth recommendations regarding the University’s relationships with Native peoples and nations. The report calls on the University to take meaningful and measurable steps toward healing through a comprehensive approach.

On January 29, Senior Advisor to the President for Native American Affairs, Karen Diver, and Regent Tadd Johnson provided updates regarding the TRUTH report’s recommendations.

This event followed a November 2023 presentation on UMD’s campus that featured lead TRUTH project researchers Misty Blue, An Garagolia, and Audrianna Goodwin.  (recording here)
