Community and Student Conversations at Climate Grief Event at UMD

Local authors Katya Gordon and Shawna Weaver celebrated the recent publication of Weaver’s new book, Climate Grief: From Coping to Resilience and Action (Lantern Publishing & Media, 2023) at UMD on November 9th, 2023.  Gordon was winner of the University of Minnesota Climate Communication Award for 2022 and is an educator, a radio show host, and author of Climate Change Musings and Studies from Lake Superior’s North Shore

The event opened at 5:30 pm with music by the North Shore Fiddlers and refreshments from UMD Catering in the Kathryn A. Martin Library Rotunda at the University of Minnesota Duluth.  At 6pm, Gordon and Weaver engaged the more than 40 attendees in conversation about the powerful emotions we feel as the climate changes and how those emotions affect our ability to respond in a productive way.
