Causes and Consequences of Illegal Immigration

Around the world, through the ages, migration is a real as life. See decades of photos.

For 35 years, Pulitzer Prize winning photojournalist Don Bartletti has documented and told the stories of migrants making the often dangerous journey from Latin America to the U.S.  Migration for survival is as old as civilization, unstoppable as the wind and frequently misunderstood.  His work focuses on those for whom migration across our southern border cannot be distanced or dispassionate.  He found courage, fear, joy, hate, success and failure - just as it happened - raw and unscripted. On October 12, he presented "The Roads Most Traveled: Causes and Consequences of Illegal Immigration" at UMD in an event sponsored by the Alworth Institute, College of Education and Human Services Professions, College of Liberal Arts, International Club, Kirby Leadership Institute, Latino Chicano Student Association, Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and the UMD Equity Education and Diversity Funding Program.
