Alworth Institute International Fellowship

Fellowship applications are not being accepted at this time.

The Alworth Institute International Fellowship is part of the process of internationalizing the academic experience at UMD. Areas of interest include international issues broadly defined. The Fellow will be in residence at the University of Minnesota Duluth for a period no greater than four weeks. Duties attached to the Fellowship include providing two public lectures on a chosen topic and undertaking a number of class visits or related activities involving students and faculty.

The Fellow should be interested, throughout, in meeting faculty and students at the University of Minnesota Duluth. The hope is that the Fellow may also use the time at the University to develop useful and ongoing professional contacts.

The prospective Fellow must be able to communicate in English at a level adequate to the performance of the duties associated with the International Fellowship. The prospective Fellow is also encouraged to use visuals in the public lectures.

The Fellowship will come with accommodation, tourist travel costs and an honorarium of $2500. The Fellow must have health insurance that covers the time period spent in the U.S. or purchase health coverage for the four weeks from the scheme approved by the University of Minnesota. A J1 visa is required. The staff of the Alworth Institute will assist the Fellow in completing the necessary paperwork and steps to obtain the visa.

The International Fellowship is a non-employee Visiting Scholar position and carries no commitment, direct or implied, for employment at the University of Minnesota Duluth.

Those interested in the Fellowship should provide the Institute, via e-mail, a current vita and a summary of proposed lectures.
