Nagasaki, Japan

What’s your major?

Philosophy/Pre Law Emphasis

Where are you studying?

Nagasaki City, Nagasaki Japan

How long will you be abroad?

I will have spent 6 months abroad

What type of courses are you taking?

I am taking Language, Culture, and Martial Arts courses.

What is your favorite memory from your study abroad experience?

My favorite memories are either being invited on a private yacht trip by a Yamaha executive I met at a presentation to the Chamber of Commerce, or the evening I spent in a Yakuza lair and all the stories that come out of that.

What would you say to someone considering studying abroad?

Do it. At the end of your life you're going to look back, and rich or poor, all you will truly have of value is the memories you made, and experiences you had. If Duluth Mn is all you want fine, but if you feel there is more to you, and more to your life then you know the right answer.

What is/was your favorite local landmark?

I love Mt. Inasa, the world's third greatest view!

What are your living accommodations?

Here I have a decent sized apartment all to myself. I get a toilet, a separate bathroom, a kitchen, entryway, and living room bigger than a dorm.

What is your greatest challenge while being abroad?

My greatest challenge abroad is missing my friends back home... and missing real pizza.

What skills have you acquired abroad?

Well, I can now linguistically function in Japan. Definitely couldn't do that before.

Has study abroad influenced your academic/career path?

Not particularly, I just did it for fun, to gain new experiences in my life.

What were questions you were asked by local residents?

The locals wanted to know if it's actually true that we have four seasons. They wanted to know about our weddings, education, and work, everything about American culture I guess. We are kind of popular in Japan, haha.
