The Master of Music (MM) in Music Performance is offered in both vocal and instrumental music for those who wish to pursue performance at the professional level in orchestral, chamber and operatic fields. Designed with equal emphasis on scholarship and performance, the program grounds musicianship in a rigorous academic foundation. Students benefit from individual mentor-ship in applied music by dedicated faculty who are world-renowned artist and scholars. Through performance partnerships with a wide variety of large and chamber ensembles, students will hone their unique performance skills and be set on a path towards a career in the professional performance world.
Instruction from world-renowned faculty in applied music and performance opportunities in a variety of ensembles provide students with ample experience, while at the same time strengthening each individual performer’s artistic abilities.

- A Department of Music Graduate Study Application
- A three- to five-page paper addressing current issues in music performance to be used as a professional writing example
- Three letters of reference from professional colleagues or supervisors describing the candidate’s potential for success in the graduate music program
- An entrance performance audition on the candidate’s major instrument or voice, arranged with the applied professor in your area.
