Personal Statement

I began my teaching career at UMD fall semester of 2000 and have held various roles and teaching assignments on campus since. Originally from Hibbing, MN, I am a first generation college graduate. I was blessed with outstanding female undergraduate professors and instructors who encouraged me to further my education in graduate school. It is there that I had the distinct opportunity to student under Dr. Bill Wilmot, who sparked my love for the field of conflict management. Go Griz!

Outside of teaching, my time is consumed by the schedules of my two sons. They are my absolute greatest gift. My husband isn't bad himself. A UMD graduate who hails from Canada, he is often the source of many (loving) class examples. In my slivers of spare time, I enjoy all things fitness, golfing, walking/hiking and connecting with fabulous friends. I am a certified group fitness instructor and teach a variety of formats here at UMD and in the Duluth community. As a family, we are very involved and supportive of the local hockey and lacrosse communities, as well as the insanely talented Duluth theater community.
