I am originally from a small town in Northeast Missouri. The rural atmosphere helped me develop a traditional mindset that has carried through to today. My travels to various parts of our nation have helped me to learn that my viewpoint is just one of many, and I have developed an interest for ideas that do not agree necessarily with mine.
I have over 35 years of public speaking experience, and I have taught philanthropically for 20 years. I have taught a variety of Mathematics, including Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, and Calculus. Other subjects include English, Theater Arts, and a variety of personal improvement courses. I have been married since 1987, and our only son was born in 1998.
I earned my Master’s degree from the University Central Missouri, and I was appointed to the UMD Faculty in August of 2104. We love the beauty of this city, and we truly enjoy the availability of outdoor activities in the region.
My research interests include analyses of literature and how it can change our perception of ourselves as we relate to others. My focus is on children’s literature, in general, and the works of Dr. Seuss, specifically.
In addition to my teaching, I enjoy hiking, snow sledding (or just playing in the snow), reading, watching movies, and attending any Bulldog sporting event.
