The Department of Anthropology, Sociology & Criminology offers majors in Anthropology, Criminology, Sociology, and Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies, and offers minors in Anthropology, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Queer Studies, Sociology, and Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies. Unifying themes in our program include inequality, identity, power, social change and development, and global multiculturalism. The department's programs are intellectually exciting and socially relevant. Students in these programs are provided civic engagement and service learning opportunities.
Meet Our New Faculty:
Chloe Diamond-Lenow specializes in LGBTQ studies, queer theory, feminist theory, transnational sexuality studies, critical popular culture studies and animal studies. She is a PhD Candidate in Feminist Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) and received her MSc in Gender Studies from The London School of Economics and Political Science. She is excited to bring her interest in social justice, pop culture and queer resistance to her teaching and research at UMD.
Charern Lee received his Ph.D. in criminology and criminal justice from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in 2017. His research interests include juvenile delinquency, domestic violence, rape, perceptions of police legitimacy, fear of crime on campus, and criminological theory. He enjoys hiking, biking, fishing, and playing basketball.
