In 2012, UMD Department of Theatre and Chanhassen Dinner Theatres created "The Chanhassen Dinner Theatres and UMD Department of Theatre Educational and Professional Alliance" to provide a professional training program for UMD Department of Theatre students. The Chanhassen Dinner Theatres' Scholarship Fund was established in 2014.

UMD School of Fine Arts and Chanhassen Dinner Theatres are partnering to support their joint scholarship by presenting The 24 Hour Musicals. Four NEW musicals are created in a single day and performed live that evening. Featuring the hottest theatrical talent in the Twin Cities, NYC and across the country. 

Since 1995, Executive Director and UMD Theatre alum Mark Armstrong has brought extraordinary artists together to create time-limited theatre around the world with The 24 Hour Plays®.
