What is your major?
Criminology with a minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.

Where was your internship placement? 
St. Paul Police Department 

What did your general duties involve?
I am on a two-week rotation with special investigation units within the department; I have worked with Gangs, Sex Crimes, Code Enforcement, Juvenile, and Property Crimes to name a few. The tasks that are expected for me to complete differ depending on the unit but I have listened to jail calls, collected intelligence, done surveillance, and made active strides to engage with the community.

What was your most memorable experience?
When I was working with the Gang Unit we executed multiple warrants, both search and arrest. It was thrilling to be assisting in a case that dealt with such a wide variety of violent crimes.

Has your internship influenced your career path?
My internship with the Saint Paul Police Department has confirmed that I have chosen the right career path for me, I love that every day is different and you never know what will happen during your shift. I have seen how dedicated officers are to the community they serve, working every day to ensure Saint Paul is a safe and welcoming area to live. I see how important it is to provide trusted service with respect for the community you serve. Saint Paul Police makes such an effort to engage with the community and facilitate a positive relationship with citizens with daily events to bring people together.
