Jake Przytarski : Alumni
When Jake looked out over Lake Superior for the first time in his life, he knew that the University of Minnesota Duluth was the right choice for him. As a young kid from Apple Valley, Minnesota, his dream was to one day work for a professional sports franchise in his home state. His first inclination was to pursue a marketing degree as a way to fulfill that dream. After a year he soon realized that it was not meant to be.
As an individual who had a strong passion for writing, and an even bigger passion for sports, he knew that a journalism degree would be a perfect fit for the dream he set out to achieve. As a journalism student, he was inspired by the guidance and hands-on approach utilized by the professors he had the pleasure of learning from. It was a significant challenge, but one that he was that he was up for in order to continue following his dream.
When his confidence grew and the opportunity presented itself, he applied for a writing position with the UMD Statesman to further challenge himself and improve. Along the way he met some amazing students and faculty members that helped him to further grow into the writer that he wanted to be.
In December of 2015, Jake graduated with a degree in Journalism and a minor in Communication. After months of searching, he applied and earned an internship position with Pro Player Insiders covering his favorite team, the Minnesota Vikings. With the tools passed on to him by the professors in the journalism department, he has thrived in his role as the Vikings beat writer and is excited for what the future holds for him.
